Beekeeping in the Northern Climates- Year Two

BEEKEEPING IN NORTHERN CLIMATES Year 2, in-person: Keeping Bees Year After Year

Need help keeping your bees alive and healthy year after year? If you have taken Beekeeping in Northern Climates Year 1 and have one season of beekeeping under your belt, this engaging course is for you. Beekeeping in Northern Climates Year 2 will help you maintain healthy bee colonies long term. Taught by Dr. Marla Spivak, Gary Reuter, Dr. Katie Lee, Nelson Williams, and the University of Minnesota Bee Squad.

Building on first-year knowledge, topics include:

  • Dividing colonies in spring to avoid swarms
  • Introducing new queens to new divide colonies
  • Preparing colonies for the second winter
  • Best management practices for controlling diseases and mites

This is a one-day in-person course that will be held at the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus. Lunch, snacks, and beverages will be provided.

When: This in-person course will be from 8:30am to 4:30pm on Saturday February 17, 2024

When: This in-person course will be held again in winter 2025.
